Netflix rescues abandoned show run by Star Trek: Discovery boss

Netflix has announced the upcoming release of Glamoura pilot previously scrapped by The CW, for a run of 10 episodes.

The show, written by Star Trek: DiscoveryJordon Nardino and executive produced by him and Damon Wayans Jr, were not picked up by The CW after the pilot in 2019.

The now Netflix show will feature Miss Benny (aka More complete house star Ben J Pierce) as Marco Mejia, a gender-nonconfirming queer man. In Netflix’s Instagram ad, Marco is described as someone “whose life seems stuck until he lands a job with a legendary makeup mogul.”

The show’s official synopsis reads, “This is Marco’s first chance to find out what he wants out of life, who he really is, and what it really means to him to be queer.”

Miss Benny is also a singer, songwriter and YouTube personality who was originally cast in the pilot, which followed the same premise of a high school graduate who interns at a cosmetics company.

In their Instagram post reacting to Netflix’s announcement, they wrote, “There’s so much to talk about, but for now I’m just so grateful.”

This isn’t the first show intended for The CW to eventually be picked up by Netflix, as it follows in the footsteps of the Debby Ryan show. Insatiable.
