The Sun reported that the alleged row between Thandiwe and Channing, which was said to be “incredibly vicious”, concerned Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. Pictures said, “Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from Warner Bros. Pictures’ production of Magic Mike’s Last Dance to attend to family matters.”
The statement comes after insiders told The Sun that Thandiwe plans to sue Warner Bros. studio heads over the incident.
The row reportedly took place on location in Paddington and culminated in Channing driving off in his car.

“After the argument, he just said, ‘I don’t work with her anymore.’ He being a producer, it’s his film, so she’s out of the film.
The source added that all scenes filmed with Thandiwe will now have to be re-shot with Salma as the film’s director Steven Soderbergh reportedly took no side in the dispute.

The actress was previously credited as Thandie Newton before reverting to the original spelling of her name three decades after it was misspelled in her first film.
She revealed that Thandie was a careless misspelling in the credits of her first film – the 1991 Australian film Flirting, starring Nicole Kidman and Noah Taylor – and it has stuck ever since.
‘It’s my name. It’s always been my name. I’m taking back what’s mine,” she told British Vogue in April 2021.
The original Magic Mike movie premiered in 2012 and was loosely based on Channing’s experience as a stripper in Tampa, Florida.
The film starred Channing, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Matthew McConaughey, and revolved around Adam, a 19-year-old who was suddenly thrown into the world of male stripping.

The sequel to Magic Mike, titled Magic Mike XXL, was directed by Gregory Jacobs and released in 2015.
Channing has confirmed he will be reprising his role from Magic Mike’s Last Dance in November 2021.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, he said he wanted the movie to be like “the Super Bowl of striptease.”
“I want to dance like we never got to in the other two movies, because we had to be honest about the reality of this world, which isn’t big dance.”
He also talked about how important it was for the film to have a female lead character.
“I want to have an equal, if not more centralized female character, so that Mike can really play and almost…I don’t mean, [to have her] take over but really let the movie be about one woman’s experience and not mike’s experience because so much has been said about mike’s and guys’ experiences.
“These films are very, very feminine. At least that’s our intention.
The film is set to stream exclusively on HBO Max. The release date has not yet been announced.
